Sadia G. Covert, Esq.
Founder and Director
Sadia Covert is the Founder and Director for UCARE. Ms. Covert is also an Attorney, owner, and partner at Covert & Covert, LLP. She serves on the board of Unity Partnership which is a committee under the DuPage Police Chiefs Association that is dedicated to fostering healthy relationships between police and minority communities. As a state- certified instructor for law enforcement, she is the first female Muslim to develop a 4- hour state-certified curriculum on Islamic Cultural Awareness in the state of Illinois and trains numerous police stations on the subject. Given her extensive background, experience, and dedication in uniting communities together to positively impact the narrative of minorities, Ms. Covert was awarded the Barack Obama Presidential Service Award in 2016. She was also the recipient of the Lansing Mayoral Award in 2013 for establishing Lansing’s annual Mayor’s Ramadan Unity Dinner in 2007; a cause that alleviated hunger while embracing religious diversity and interfaith understanding.
Sadia Covert has been appointed as the Chair of the Women and Minorities Committee for DuPage County and publicly speaks on numerous topics relating to the legal system, hate crimes, and Islamic culture. Currently, Ms. Covert is in the process of working with the State legislature and Congress on amending the current hate crime law through her personal capacity. Ms. Covert is also married and a mother of three adorable and amazing children.

Mahfooz R. Khan
Executive Director of Programs and Accounts
Mahfooz Khan is the Executive Director of Programs and Accounts at UCARE. He graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Olivet Nazarene University in Business Administration. As an award-winning speaker since 1994, Mr. Khan coaches individuals and communities in public speaking and leadership skills. He has taught Islamic Cultural Awareness and Islamic history since 1989 to youth and adults in various institutions throughout the Northwest and Southwest suburbs of Chicago and has led a variety of inter-faith and inter-cultural projects as an active committee member of the Naperville Interfaith Leadership Alliance. He has served as the President of his Toastmasters Club at Videojet Technologies and has implemented Toastmaster’s International and Gavel Club within diverse communities in effort to build leadership skills in youth and adults.
Brian Covert, Esq
Chief Legal Director
Brian Covert serves as the Chief Legal officer of UCARE. A licensed attorney in the State of Illinois, Brian Covert received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Benedictine University in Lisle Illinois before earning his Juris Doctorate from the Northern Illinois University College of Law with a concentration in Litigation. There, he began his success as an attorney as a semifinalist in NIUCOL’s 2007 Mock Trial Competition. Brian started his legal career as a 711 prosecutor in the DuPage County State’s Attorney Office, working on DUI, domestic violence and general misdemeanor matters. Since going into private practice, Brian has put his efforts into helping clients with foreclosure, business law, family, personal injury, and criminal defense matters — with a track record of obtaining successful outcomes both inside and outside the courtroom. Mr. Covert advises small businesses and corporations in policy making, contractual issues and implementation, and consultation. Mr. Covert is also a member of the DuPage County Bar Association and a father of three adorable children.
